CAFÉ DE TANNAY STUDIO
STUDIO VISIT

Above is the entrance to the cour communale onto which leads the back side of the café. The entrance porch is situated in the east façade of the Place Charles Chaigneau, seen outside the porch (below).

Evening light in the kitchen at the back side of the house, on the court yard.

A small terrace remains of what once was an outside toilet and probably some storage shed (above). Below is the part which changed most: the façade renewed, roof renewed, doors and windows changed or added. After, on the ground floor is situated a shower-toilet, with a bathroom on the second floor.

They were cold winter months when we waited for a construction license.

We close the façade in March and plaster it in August.

EXTERIOR SPACES
RdC / courtyard
The cour commune or public/common courtyard is shared by those who live on it: the Sirdey family (an elderly mother and her two middle-aged daughters); who use storage space on it (Mr. Bideux, the electrician and plumber) and Mr. Bris (the shoe shop owner); or have a garage here: the owner of the corner café.
Our former cafés annex on its left side has a small terrace, catching early morning sun. This part of the building undergoes a major make-over to situate a ground floor shower-toilet and second floor bathroom with a bath and double washing stand. Here we keep the existing fireplace.
Before arranging the bathrooms however we remove the old drafty façade, which remains open for some chilly 4 winter months, only due to bureaucratic hairsplitting: the license to construct a new façade did not include a license to bring down the existing one... who would have thought? We did take it down but are forced to submit a new request. There was this story with the Sirdey eldest daughter and mother, about possibly building 15cm. into the courtyard, however. They stirred things up a bit. Oh well.
